The Skoda Epiq is a new all-electric compact SUV designed to make electric motoring more accessible. Originally revealed as a design study in 2024 with an expected launch around 2026, the Epiq has now reached production and is available to order in the UK.

With a starting price of £24,950 when UK pricing was announced, the Skoda Epiq became the brand’s most affordable fully electric model. The production version offers up to 272 miles of WLTP range, a 52kWh battery, up to 211PS and a 475-litre boot.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Skoda Epiq, including its design, interior, battery options, range, charging, UK pricing and availability.

Skoda Epiq: What Is It?

The Skoda Epiq is a compact electric SUV positioned at the smaller end of Skoda’s SUV range. It sits below models such as the Elroq and Enyaq, giving buyers a smaller and more affordable route into the brand’s electric range.

The production Epiq is the first Skoda model to use Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive. The platform has been developed specifically to support compact electric vehicles while keeping weight and energy consumption under control.

The Epiq also plays an important role in Skoda’s expanding electric line-up, bringing fully electric power to a segment traditionally dominated by petrol-powered compact SUVs.

Skoda Epiq Design

The Skoda Epiq introduces Skoda’s Modern Solid design language to a smaller SUV. One of its most distinctive features is the Tech-Deck front, which replaces the traditional grille with a smooth, minimalist panel incorporating the car’s sensors.

The design also features T-shaped lighting signatures, a sculpted body and short overhangs that help give the Epiq a relatively compact footprint.

The original 2024 concept measured around 4.1 metres long and was previewed with up to 490 litres of luggage capacity. The production model has a 475-litre boot, with up to 1,345 litres available when the rear seats are folded.

That gives the Skoda Epiq impressive practicality for a compact electric SUV.

Skoda Epiq Interior and Technology

Inside, the Epiq continues Skoda’s focus on practical technology rather than simply adding equipment for the sake of it.

The UK SE L specification includes a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 5.3-inch digital cockpit, wireless SmartLink, rear parking sensors, climate control and predictive adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.

Higher-specification Edition models add equipment such as satellite navigation, a rear-view camera, front parking sensors, heated front seats and steering wheel, two-zone climate control and wireless smartphone charging.

The Epiq can also be equipped with a digital key, Travel Assist Plus and bi-directional charging, depending on specification.

As expected from a modern Skoda, practicality remains a major part of the package. The 475-litre boot gives the Epiq useful luggage space despite its relatively compact exterior dimensions.

Skoda Epiq Battery, Range and Power

The Skoda Epiq is available with different battery and power outputs depending on the version selected.

The UK range includes 40 and 55 battery options, with the larger battery providing the greatest driving range. The largest battery has a capacity of 52kWh.

The most powerful version develops up to 211PS, while acceleration from 0-62mph starts from 7.1 seconds depending on specification.

Official Skoda figures give the Epiq a maximum WLTP combined range of 272 miles.

As with any electric car, real-world range will depend on factors such as temperature, driving speed, road conditions, payload and use of heating or air conditioning.

For buyers who primarily drive around town or commute relatively short distances, the Epiq’s combination of compact dimensions and electric power should make it particularly well suited to everyday driving.

Skoda Epiq Charging

Charging performance is another important part of the Epiq package.

Skoda quotes charging from 10% to 80% in under 25 minutes when using suitable rapid charging infrastructure, while the official UK model page lists a charging time from 24 minutes.

The exact charging time will depend on the battery version, charger and conditions, but the Epiq’s rapid-charging capability should make longer journeys more practical.

For everyday use, owners charging at home will generally be able to start each day with a useful amount of range without relying heavily on public charging.

Skoda Epiq Price in the UK

When Skoda confirmed the final UK specification, the Epiq started at £24,950 on-the-road, making it the brand’s most affordable fully electric car.

The UK launch pricing was announced as follows:

  • Epiq SE L 40 – £24,950
  • Epiq SE L 55 – £27,700
  • Epiq Edition 40 – £27,700
  • Epiq Edition 55 – £30,450
  • Epiq First Edition 55 – £31,450

Skoda’s current UK model page lists the Epiq as available to order, although prices and offers can change over time.

For the latest pricing and specification, buyers should check Skoda UK’s official Epiq page before placing an order.

When Can You Buy the Skoda Epiq?

The original Skoda Epiq announcement in March 2024 suggested the model would arrive around 2026, with a target price of approximately €25,000.

That has now become reality, with the production Epiq unveiled in May 2026 and series production beginning shortly afterwards.

UK orders opened in 2026, meaning the Skoda Epiq is no longer simply an upcoming electric SUV. It is now a production model that UK buyers can order.

This is a significant change from the original article, which was written when the Epiq was still a design study.

Skoda Epiq vs Its Rivals

The Epiq enters an increasingly competitive part of the electric-car market.

Its compact dimensions, relatively affordable starting price and 475-litre boot make it particularly interesting for buyers who want an SUV without moving into the larger and more expensive electric-SUV classes.

The Epiq will also have to compete with other compact electric SUVs and crossovers, including models from manufacturers such as Hyundai, Kia, Renault and Citroën.

However, Skoda has a useful advantage in the form of its established reputation for practicality. The Epiq follows the same philosophy as larger Skoda models by offering plenty of useful space and technology without requiring buyers to move into a large SUV.

Is the Skoda Epiq Worth Considering?

The Skoda Epiq looks like an important model for buyers who want to switch to electric motoring without spending £30,000 or more.

Its combination of a compact footprint, 475-litre boot, up to 272 miles of WLTP range and a starting price below £25,000 makes it particularly interesting in the UK market.

The higher-specification versions offer considerably more equipment, while the 55 battery versions provide the greatest range.

The biggest question for buyers will be whether the Epiq’s real-world range and charging performance suit their driving needs. For urban and suburban drivers, however, the compact size and electric powertrain could make it an appealing alternative to a traditional petrol SUV.

The Skoda Epiq’s Place in Skoda’s Electric Future

The Epiq represents an important step in Skoda’s electric-car strategy.

The company has already expanded its electric range with models such as the Enyaq and Elroq, while the Epiq brings the technology into a smaller and more affordable package.

For buyers looking for an electric SUV without the size and cost of a larger model, the Epiq could prove to be one of the more interesting new options in the market.
