As I mentioned in another thread, my wife is from the US and wants to be able to drive in the UK.

I want to get some information and differences for her to compare to help her learn our roads a bit easier. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or information in general about the differences in road laws between the two countries?

The basics are pretty much the same. I mean most people who move to the US from the UK do not struggle with driving but when someone from the US moves to the UK? They run into issues. We have more compact roads overall and there are enough differences to make it confusing at times.

The big differences are legal driving age, stricter seatbelt enforcement, handheld devices being used by the driver are always illegal (some states don't fuss about this in the US), and then you have the biggest difference in which side of the road you drive on.
