Kia has unveiled its latest all-electric model, the EV4, a striking addition to its growing EV lineup. Designed to bridge the gap between a stylish saloon and a practical hatchback, the EV4 aims to deliver a balance of range, technology, and affordability. With an expected UK and European release in late 2025, this model is set to challenge established players in the electric vehicle market.
Built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP 400V platform, the EV4 offers two battery configurations: a long-range 81kWh pack and a standard 58kWh option. The long-range variant is expected to provide up to 390 miles on a single charge, while the smaller battery will still manage an impressive 365 miles. Power comes from a single front-mounted motor producing 201bhp, allowing for a 0-62mph time of around 7.5 seconds.
The EV4 is engineered for efficiency, with a rapid charging system capable of replenishing the battery from 10-80% in approximately 30 minutes. Additionally, the inclusion of an 11kW onboard charger ensures convenient overnight home charging, making it practical for daily commuting.
Kia has taken a bold approach to design, giving the EV4 a streamlined, futuristic look that blends sharp lines with aerodynamic efficiency. The interior is equally innovative, featuring a massive 30-inch curved display that seamlessly integrates key infotainment and driver information screens.
A standout feature of the EV4 is its in-car entertainment suite, which includes Kia’s ‘Vehicle Smart TV’ package, offering access to streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+. Complementing this is an optional Harman Kardon surround sound system, ensuring a high-quality audio experience.
For added comfort, Kia has introduced a ‘Rest Mode’ that reclines the front seats while adjusting ambient lighting to create a more relaxed atmosphere. The ‘Theatre Mode’ enhances display visibility, optimising the experience for passengers looking to enjoy on-the-go entertainment.
Storage capacity is another strong point, with the saloon offering 490 litres of boot space and the hatchback providing 435 litres—both surpassing key rivals in the segment.
The EV4 comes equipped with a full suite of safety and driver assistance technologies. Highway Driving Assist and Forward Collision Avoidance work together to provide enhanced security on the road. The optional ‘Driver Package F+’ adds advanced monitoring features using radar and cameras to detect potential hazards, while ‘Direct Grip Detection’ ensures the driver maintains full engagement with the steering wheel.
For those who prefer a quieter driving experience, Kia has included a feature allowing users to mute certain driver assistance alerts at the press of a button.
While official pricing has not yet been confirmed, the Kia EV4 is expected to start at around £35,000, positioning it as an attractive alternative to competitors such as the Volkswagen ID.3 and Tesla Model 3. Production will take place in Kia’s Korean and Slovakian facilities, with first deliveries expected in the second half of 2025.
The EV4 is part of Kia’s ambitious electric future, joining upcoming models like the EV2 compact SUV and the PV5 electric van. With its combination of range, technology, and stylish design, the Kia EV4 is poised to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle landscape.
