If you are wanting to create a great van advert that will help you sell it for the best price possible online, then you will need to make sure that you have some good photos to accompany it. Posting pictures will let them really get a feel of the van and help them decide if they are wanting to buy it, which is why it is so important to include them.

If you don’t have good pictures of your van, then people will be put off and it can have a big effect on the price and the chances of you selling it. Below we have put together some easy, but valuable tips on how you can make your van look great in your photos.

Clean your van

It is really important to clean your van, both inside and out before taking any photos of it. There is nothing appealing about a dirty van and could put people off being interested. Presenting your van in the best way possible is super important, so making sure it is as clean as it possibly can be in the photos is necessary. Give your van a clean both inside and out. Hoover the inside of the vehicle so that you don’t see any dirt in the images and make sure the seats look clean. If you want to give your van the best chance of looking amazing in your photos, make sure you scrub the wheels and give the outside of the van a polish. This will make the van shine in your photos.

Do some research

To give you an idea the sort of picture you should be taking of your van, have a look on our used vans page and see what other van adverts have done. You need your photos to be as good as there’s and if possible, even better. You will probably notice that some ads only have one image or blurry pictures, this is a no-go when trying to sell your van, so try to avoid any blurry images.

Find a nice background

Most people don’t consider the background of the image when taking their photos. However, it can affect the quality of your photos and can also change the way that potential buyers see your van. If you want to appear more professional, then you need to go and park your van in a place that has a nice background. If you park your van down an alleyway or in an industrial estate, it might bring the images down. Try and find a nice place to take the pictures, such as a driveway, or a well-lit street that has trees in the background. If you can find an even more impressive background, like overlooking the ocean or a scenic view, then even better.

Camera quality

One thing you need to consider is your camera quality. Although most smartphones have a great quality camera on them, it still might be worth using a more advanced camera if possible. If you don’t have one yourself, then try and borrow one from a friend or a family member.

Lighting

Lighting is super important when you are taking pictures. You want your advert to showcase clear images of your van and if it is backlit or too dark then this won’t be the case. If you are taking the pictures on a really sunny day, then find somewhere shady or make sure the sun is behind you when taking the images. This will stop any lens flare.

Pick some good angles

Make sure that you get some photos in different angles. Potential buyers will want to see photos of all around the van instead of just one photo. Ensure that you take photos of the front, sides and back of the van. Get lower when taking some shots and higher in others. This will allow you to choose some of the best for your advert. Make sure you take somewhere you are stood far away from the van to get the whole thing in.

Remember to capture photos of the inside

Taking pictures of inside the van is very important. Often when people are buying a van they want to see what the storage space in the back is like, so you need to ensure you get great photos of this. Open the back doors and step back to get a photo of the whole back space.

Don’t forget about taking some photos of the inside of the front of the van including the driving seat and the space that is available there. Open the front doors to get a clear shot of what it looks like in there.

Show all the blemishes

Often people try to hide damages or any scratches the van might have in their photos. This isn’t going to achieve anything, as sooner or later the potential buyer will find out about it. It is much better to show off all the flaws straight away so that you can show you are being open and honest, and you know anyone contacting you after those photos is still interested in buying and won’t drop out afterward.
