As a leading automotive brand, Mazda is committed to delivering top-of-the-class cars, which is vividly evident in the MX-5 success. Mazda MX-5 is the most popular in the roadster class, and the brand is upping the game to beat the competition and maintain this feat. Hence, the 2023 Mazda MX-5 is coming with three new trim levels. When the trim levels finally hit the road, Mazda MX-5 will boast ten variants. Although MX-5 has been around for more than 30 years, the fourth-generation MX-5 was unveiled in 2014, with production starting in 2015. Since its first release, the car has been produced in both Convertible and Retractable Fastback (RF), boasting over 24,000 sales in the UK alone. However, the 2023 model of Mazda MX-5 nicknamed the convertible “Roadster” to differentiate it from the RF. The new trim levels are the Exclusive-Line, Prime-Line, and Homura.

2023 Mazda MX-5 Review

Since the news of its release, fanatics of MX-5 have been up on their toes, anticipating what the new MX-5 has to offer. To start with, Mazda MX-5 offers two engine options for both the Roadster (convertible) and the RF: 181bhp 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G and 130bhp 1.5-liter engines. The Prime-Line trim features the 1.5-liter engine under the hood and sells from £25,800, a bit pricier than the Exclusive-Line grade that sells at £28,100. The Prime-Line features include cruise control, 16-inch black alloy wheels, DAB radio, and air-conditioning. For the Exclusive-Line trim, essential features include lane departure warning, black leather seats, rain-sensing wipers, and adaptive headlights. The Exclusive-Line and Homura models are powered by the Skyactiv-G Roaster engine. Although the Roadster is only equipped with the manual gearbox, there is an option for the automatic gearbox in the 2.0-liter for the Exclusive-Line, and Homura trim levels. Going further, the Homura trim models with the manual gearbox feature 17-inch BBS alloy wheels, complemented with stainless steel scuff plates and red Brembo front brake calipers. These models carry a price tag of £32,460 and above, though. What is more, the Zircon Sand painting is a noticeable change in the aesthetic design. Also, Mazda MX-5 comes standard with stop-start engine technology regardless of engine option. According to Jeremy Thomson, Mazda UK Managing Director, “the MX-5 is Mazda’s icon and embodies all that is great about our products.” The director added that the outstanding features of the MX-5 have strengthened the bond between the brand and its customers over its 30-year history. He concluded that the 2023 model builds on the reputation by delivering affordable, world-class sports cars.
