We’re very excited to announce that our Annual Transport Extravaganza has been enhanced for 2023! For the first

time ever, our Transport Extravaganza will share the stage with our Mini Mixed Traction Gala. Soak up the

atmosphere and feast your eyes on over 120 transport themed exhibits, from classic cars, vintage motorbikes,

military vehicles, kit cars and modern rare head turners. And for train lovers, enjoy the sounds and smells of the

age of steam and diesel where some of our available steam and diesel locomotives from our home fleet will be in

operation. A must for all vehicle and train lovers to gear up for an event of their dreams.

Visitors will have the chance to have unlimited rides all day on passenger and freight trains hauled by some of our

available steam and diesel locomotives from our home fleet. Also included as part of your admission are vintage

bus rides to Bures railway station and back, about a 35 minute round trip.

The Museum opens at 10.00 until 17.00 and we operate unlimited train rides between 10.30 – 16.00. Our

Miniature Railway will be running giving unlimited rides, and our friends from the Braintree and Halsted Model

Railway Club will have their club rooms open, with a large number of layouts on display.

Check out our working Restoration Shed, the magnificent Victorian Goods Shed, period Waiting Rooms and Signal

Box as well as the Heritage Centre and train themed children’s playground. Our very own micro pub, The Viaduct,

will be open from 11:00 selling draught beer from Colchester Brewery, as well as a range of bottled beers, ciders,

spirits and soft drinks. Oh, and there’s ice cream and doughnuts too!

CALLING CLASSIC VEHICLE OWNERS

Want to enter our show? We’re looking for anybody with transport themed exhibits whether it be classic vehicles,

modern and rare head turners (supercars, muscle cars), large commercial vehicles, agricultural vehicles, traction

engines, vintage motorbikes, military vehicles, trucks and buses. Vehicle clubs are also welcome as we often play

host to different clubs throughout the year. Vehicles must be at least 25 years old, but modern head turners of

exceptional interest and rarity such as supercars and muscle cars will be considered at the discretion of the event

manager. If your unsure if your vehicle qualifies then please get in touch. Examples of modern and rare head

turners can be seen in the images below. Not all exhibits have to move, we also welcome stationary engines,

model displays and memorabilia displays. If you would like to enter, please see the link to our new mobile friendly

Web form below. For those who don’t get on with the Internet, a paper form is available.

Gates open for exhibitors from 09:00 and we would ask you to arrive by 10:00 as this is when the public start to

enter the site. The gate will be closed by 11:00 and no exhibitors will be admitted after this time for safety

reasons. Gates will remain closed until 15:30, if you are unable to stay until this time, please do not attend the

event as cars leaving early seriously compromise the safety of our visitors. It is also disappointing for those who

arrive for the afternoon only to find most of the vehicles have gone.

We have reached site capacity for Sunday 28th so have closed entry for this date. We do however have plenty of

space on Monday 29th
